The sensation of being tattooed and/or pierced differ from
person to person & can depend on the placement. Tattoos & Piercings
are not painless - they do hurt, but for the majority of the population are
bearable. The first 10 min. of a tattoo are the worst, and then it gets a
bit better - this is due to your body releasing natural endorphins. The main
thing is to BREATH & relax into the sensation & NOT to fight it -
the more you tense up, usually the worse it gets. During the tattoo you will
find some areas that are more sensitive/pinchy than others - they won't last
forever, just relax. Breaks are not normally taken as it tends to hurt a bit
more when you continue - on larger pieces we do sometimes take short breaks.
If it hurts - DON'T MOVE - your tattoo is for life & the pain is temporary.
If you move you will mess up your tattoo, as it is very hard to draw a straight
line on a moving canvas.

Normally areas just above bones (collar bone, knee, shin..),
any 'pits' (arm pit, knee pit, elbow pit), the inside of the thigh, ribs,
lower belly & lower back. These are generalizations as you will find some
people have absolutely no problems being worked on in these areas - it completely
varies from person to person. Do not let the 'hurt factor' determine where
you place your tattoo, as you will always regret not getting it where you
really wanted it later on. Get where you want it & be prepared mentally
to sit through the experience, as the discomfort is only temporary & the
tattoo is forever.

Yes we do. Different areas of the body are harder to work on
than others. Some areas are hard to get to, others hard to stretch, &
some just hard to work on. We do normally charge a bit more for these areas
(normally ranges from an extra $10 to $50 than easy to work on areas depending
on the tattoo design and area). There are some exceptions, such as the genital
area where the charge may be more.

Our minimum charge is $50, and it goes up from there. As an
example, a tattoo about the size of the palm of your hand can range anywhere
from $100 - $250, depending on the amount of detail in the design, etc. For
large tattoos we can do them in multiple sittings, as it can make it easier
on your pocketbook, the Artist & your skin.

It is recommended to make tattoo appointments anywhere from
2-4 days to 2-3 weeks in advance depending on the time of year. For larger
tattoos always make appointments to guarantee your sitting. We do walk-ins,
but a sitting is not always guaranteed. A deposit is required for all appointments.
We can not guarantee appointments without deposits (i.e.. phoned in, from
email) as these people do not always show up. If you have made an appointment
over the phone or we normally ask you to show up about 30min. before the appointment
to gaurantee your sitting.
For piercings you do not normally have to make an appointment, although for
some custom work a
consultation is recommended before the piercing.

The night before the tattoo/piercing
rest well, get a good night's sleep, and refrain from partying, using drugs
and/or alcohol.
On the day of eat well, have a good breakfast/ lunch before your tattoo/piercing
& Do Not use any drug or alcohol at all.
If you follow these instructions getting a tattoo/piercing will be a lot easier
on you.

Of course we do - All needles are sealed in sterile bags, used
once then disposed of in a Sharps Container. All the inks used in
a tattoo
are dispensed into disposable ink caps & thrown away after each tattoo.
Silverline Tattoo is a member of the Sterilization Monitoring Program in which
their sterilizers are checked monthly by an Independent Lab.
Silverline is also regulated by the Health Department
of Ottawa.

Not from us you wont! See above statement..
With all needles being single use & proper protocols being followed, the
risk of you contracting anything is pretty close to impossible.
The CDC (Center
for Disease Control), located in the United States, is the
foremost authority on communicable diseases. It plays the leading role in
investigating and documenting the patterns & causes of AIDS & Hepatitis
through-out the U.S. As of yet in Canada, there is no CDC, the closest
equivalent is Health Canada. Working in partnership with the provincial and
territorial governments, Health Canada has created Infection Control Guidelines
for tattooing and ear/body piercing. These guidelines were developed for practitioners
of tattooing and ear/body piercing by representatives from industry, health
services, and Health Canada's Centre for Infectious Disease Prevention
and Control.
To view the guidelines, please click here.
CDC categorizes tattooists as "personal service workers" along with hairdressers, barbers, manicurists, acupuncturists, and massage therapists. Since the early 1980s, this category of workers has received intense scrutiny in ongoing CDC investigations of how the HIV virus that causes AIDS is spread. In its HIV/AIDS Surveillance Reports, CDC has consistently noted that it has documented "no cases of HIV transmission through tattooing" anywhere in the country since it began tracking such data in 1985. By comparison, there have been at least 7 cases of HIV transmission associated with dentists and dental workers.
Of the 13,387 annual cases of hepatitis detailed in the
most recent CDC report, 12 are associated with tattoo studios. By comparison,
43 cases, or better than 300% more are associated with dental offices. Both
numbers would appear to represent low levels of hepatitis risk, a risk that
has been further reduced by new safety procedures required of both dental
offices and tattoo studios.

This is determined on a case by case basis. If the Artist is
not comfortable doing the tattoo, they do not have to do the tattoo.
The best thing to do is call the studio (613-231-5110) or email
us before coming in to make sure that there is an artist who would be comfortable
doing the tattoo for you.
Also, you & your parent both need to have proper ID (name, date of birth
& a picture). If one of you do not have proper ID with you, we will not
be able to do the tattoo for you.

For body piercings, you need to be 16 to be able to sign for
yourself. If you are under 16 it is up to the Artist, if they are not comfortable
doing the piercing they do not have to, even if your parents are with you.

Nope! We need you in the right state of mind, and besides,
you have to sign a consent form stating you are not under
the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Also, if you drink or do drugs before having a tattoo &/or piercing done
you will find that you will not heal as well as you could have. It really
is best to have your body & mind healthy when having a tattoo/piercing
preformed & while healing.

Bring cash, your deposit receipt if applicable, and your I.
D.! Proper I. D. (name/date of birth/photo) required for any & all procedures
preformed at Silverline Tattoo & Body Piercing. If you are under the age
to sign the Release Form on your own & your parent is with you,
you & your parent both have to have Proper ID.
It's always a good idea to bring a pop or chocolate bar (something with sugar
in it) when having a tattoo/piercing done. A person can get a little light
headed or sometimes even pass out during or after a procedure & sugar
helps make you feel better. Normally you pass out because you haven't eaten
in the last 4 hours &/or you are very nervous - what happens is your blood
pressure & blood sugar levels can rise & fall very quickly & make
you light headed - the sugar helps even it all out.
